I just graduated from a D100(that's right-the dinasor) to a D90. I bought it on ebay(used) and it seems to work well. As I am starting to go through the manual, I have started to realize the hundreds of features this camera has. I thought the old D100 had a lot of features! My question is this-do you pros have a top 5 or 6 features that you use regularly or check each time you shoot when not using auto mode? There are so many settigs on this camera I don't know where to start. Thanks
Mike

Sit down with the manual in hand and the camera next to you. Then start going through the manual. Everyone has their favs and you'll find yours too.

If you think the D90 has lots of features, you should look at the D7000 or the D600. Either of those made my D90 look like a Dinosaur.

Have already started doing that-just thought that there were some settings more frequently used than others-guess it does depend on personal preference. Thanks for the spelling correction on "dinosaur"

Throw the manual away and go to ken rockwell site and look around for the d90. He has every thing you need in there . I have two d90 and im going to pick up a d7000 very soon i already have his take on the D7000. Itsnot that much difference than the D90 just a couple things no big deal. The main thing for me is the picture detail ' the two card slots' and the video fockes while you shoot.

If the United States had the computing power of a D90 in 1942, things would have gone much differently.

don't knock the d-100. it is my main camera and still does a terrific job. Just cause she don't have all the fancy schmancy features like the newer models doesn't make her a dinosaur!. I even occasionally take down the queen of my Nikon's a F photonic load a roll of film in her, grab the hand held light meter and go to town with a fifty year old camera that works like a charm. At least the D-100 has the auto focus motor in its body where it should be, unlike the youngsters !

I've always believed that about any old equipment. If it's in working condition, it's just as good now as it was then, whether it's a Nikon, a Spitfire, or a classic car.

Equipment might get better, but the old things don't get worse.
