Summer in Iceland - 18 - Austurland/Eastern Region - Drive from Höfn to Lon Lagoon
This set covers a drive of about 50 km / 30 miles from my Nupugardar farmstay to the Lon plain and lagoon, considered by some to be one of Icelands most beautiful areas. If you check out the map with the first link below, you can see that we are getting close to the northeasternmost section of Iceland and indeed my daytrip will go all the way to Eglisstadir from where the route starts turning west. But I will present this one-day drive in a few sections over the coming days. The Lon Lagoon is not specially marked on my map, but it is at the end of the first arc when I again reached the ocean after Höfn.

Superb set Joe.
Thank you very much Jim, glad you like this set. Joe
TREES! Yay! As you guessed, the 8th is my favorite. Trees, water, mountains and a bit of blue sky. What more could a person want. This is a beautiful series, Joe.

Thank you Barbara - I KNEW this was going to make you happy - and I am glad I was right! It is actually very interesting: we take these things like trees for totally granted, and then we stumble around the sands of Oman or the beautiful but substantially treeless landscape of Iceland and first we just realize that something is different, until it hits us: No Trees! I am sure it makes us appreciate the trees around us more after having seen a life without them. Thanks Barbara for enjoying the series! Joe
