Blue-eyed people share a common ancestor
If you have a pair of baby blues, you're among the 8 to 10 percent of the population worldwide with blue eyes, which are the result of a mutation that causes the irises to lack pigment. Researchers believe this mutation first appeared in a person who lived in Europe between 6,000 to 10,000 years ago, meaning all blue-eyed people alive today share a common ancestor

Yes, I do. Genetics also suggest that we all share a common ancestor. I am not a creationist, but it gives pause for thought! Please stay well and keep us thinking.

I had a white Persian cat with one blue eye and one brown eye. Could my cat have been related to your brother?

Your brother is an Australian Shepherd. I like him already, and I don't even know him.

What you said sounds plausible. I have blue eyes and my ancestors definitely came from Europe. However my two full-brothers don't have blue eyes. Maybe the blue-eyed gene is recessive in my family and I happen to have it.

Both my parents and my three siblings and I all have blue eyes, yet none of my parents' siblings nor any of their offspring have blue eyes. And they both came from huge families.

We were jokingly considered the outcasts from the larger family units.

Blue eyes is a recessive gene. Both parents must have the gene for their offspring to have blue eyes.

Yes, but I must be your grandfather, or great grandfather! Our common ancestor must be proud to have to many offspring...
