Not trying to enflame a war of words, but watching the classified section I'm amazed that so much more Nikon equipment is being resold even though they don't have the total sales of Canon. Are people less satisfied?

Depends on the day you look at the sales. Some days all Canon other days Sony or Nikon. A lot of sales are due to shooters moving up to newer equipment.

What did the folks selling their gear say when you asked them??
Success is a mix of luck and choosing the right camera brand. Probably the time for some people to make some new luck.

I didn't ask because i don't want Nikon.

You have a bias against NIKON! Why?

Not necessarily biased
against Nikon.
You made an assumption.
He had to pick something...
I myself picked Canon.
If you want to make enemies, say something true about Nikon. Even something as innocuous as observing more Nikon equipment is for sale at the moment...
Have had several Canon cameras - could have gone with the system back in the '60's but I got a good deal on a complete Nikon kit. I still have a couple of Canon Film ELPH cameras - unfortunately the advanced photo system film failed and is no longer available. Really handy small cameras, so I bought first one digital ELPH (it failed) then another (it failed as well) a shame. All four of the Canon cameras were excellent till they became unusable. I have Nikon, Leica, and Ricoh brand cameras. Not any one of the latter three brands have ever failed me, and my first Nikon from the '60's is still usable. Go figure - experience driven.
I purchased nikon somply for the fact my lense compatibility was so great.
Switching systems is but one reason to sell. Many sell their present gear to finance an upgrade, some may find that a particular lens or camera model doesn't suit their needs, etc. I wouldn't assume that every seller is buying a different brand.
