September is National Sewing Month and a few days ago it was "Make a/Wear a Hat Day. Today's challenge will be images related to hats, sewing - or any hobby you enjoy or admire. Can't wait to see what you all find. "Photography" is likely a hobby/profession for a lot of us. And there is always the RED for a WILD card.
This song has nothing to do with any of these but it's an oldie - "Good Morning Starshine" by Oliver - and has a happy, catchy tune. Perhaps you'll enjoy it as you look for some crazy hats or hobbies to share.
http://youtu.be/QAOTxAGJUugTeriO, and those who say they have missed my crazy photos, here is a set for you.

Back in the 1950's I remember an old treadle sewing machine that my grandmother had stored in a side room of my grandparents small house. It was disused even then, but I believe she had used it to make clothing for her eleven(!) children.
It had no needle, so she would let me play with it when I would visit with my parents. I remember being fascinated by all of the moving parts of the mechanism.
I don't know where it is now. Hopefully it's in the possession of one of my numerous cousins (or their children), and not in a trash heap somewhere.

Here's a couple of sewing related photos I took not too long ago.

Page 1: A few points about this extraordinary post from PATo:
(1) Pat, you look amazingly, vividly nutty in them hats, wish you'd found one with you wearing a stetson or, better still, a ten gallon hat from the Lone Star state.
(2) Bill Garrett sure is one heck of a creative guy, a great machinist / motorcycle freak, and an outstanding artist in his own right ! It's you who's the Mad Hatter, ha ha !!
(3) The boy is wearing a cap, but why split hairs here, he looks decidedly cool !
(4) This topic put me in a quandary coz I don't have any but the one hat picture of the Ladakhi old timer, guess I'll have to fall back on that one yet again.
(5) Women don't wear hats in India, maybe a cap in winter--here's an example. Men shun hats, generally speaking, unless they're on holiday and buy a straw or canvas hat. The days of the solar topee, so favoured by the British and upper crust Indian old timers, are definitely over.
(6) Hey, I just remembered my one 'sardarji' photo (so -so photo quality, indoors, poor light), you can see his 'pugree' or turban !
(7) Lucky seven: Millinery or haberdashery, you got me there-- twice over. I can sew on a button, but that's about it ! Forced to improvise once again, I fell back on trash lying around the house...please scroll down ... fourth and final picture
Maneet Singh, a would-be publisher
Winter cap; Delhi can get quite cold in winter
Old timer from the high altitude desert of Ladakh in northern India
This is the one picture that fits the bill, I think.

Thanks, Frankie...he's seen a lot in his life, that's for sure, what with his region being so close to the world's highest battlefield of the Siachen Glacier -- 18,000 feet -- where the Indian and Pakistani forces are still at a stand-off.
