After last week’s visit to Fiesta Island (a large, off-leash pet park on an island in Mission Bay) in the self proclaimed “America’s Finest City” (i.e., San Diego,CA), we decided to see if some of our other pets besides our dog might have fun there too. We have seen horses, llamas and other species of mammals there.
So we decided to start small with our kitty, Tigger.
Well, that didn’t work out so well, after Tigger’s consumption of several inquisitive, small canines, we were asked politely by a park ranger to take our kitty and leave. We did.
When we returned home, Tigger coughed up a couple of hairballs the size of footballs.
Not to be deterred by this experience we decided to try another one of our pets, our lizard, Al.
Well, we thought Al would be perfect for and enjoy all the features that Fiesta Island has to offer like sunshine, warm sand and the refreshing waters of beautiful Mission Bay. I must confess to my mistake, that I forgot to feed Al prior to this outing. Well, sure enough several small, curious friendly dogs were welcomed by Al to join him in his breakfast. Once again in a more direct manner we were told by the ranger to take our lizard and vamoose.
After returning home we did notice some dog tags, microchips and collar parts in Al’s poop. Sure, as career animal care professionals we understand what goes in must come out one end or the other sooner or later.
Two strikes does not mean you’re out yet and determined to give all our pets the opportunity to enjoy Fiesta Island we opted to give our overgrown air breathing guppy, Shmorky, back there.
Now Shmorky usually spends all his time in our backyard pool but our mistake was letting him watch TV things like NAT GEO, the Discovery channel and Animal Planet. He obviously learned from his distant relatives in Argentina (and other places too) that he could get a good fresh warm snack by sliding up onto the beach and grabbing any biped or quadruped that was wading along the shoreline. Yep, you guessed it, we were told in no uncertain terms by the ranger that we were banished from the island forever.
Needless to say we are bummed to the moon as we had great plans and already told our pet pachyderm, Bolt, a former Charger fan that she could go to Fiesta Island next.
The tribe banished from Fiesta Island! Best, chase, Mrs. chase and all the other wonderful animals that we’ve had the honor, pleasure and fun working with over the years.
P.S. I miss the wit and humor of our longtime UHH member Treepusher, who's postings inspired me to send this one. chase

Love your pets Excellent shots and story
Fun post! Made my day. Al should have taken care of the park keeper... Stay well and keep out of trouble!
An amusing great story, Chase.
FUN shots!! And couldn’t agree more about missing the Treepusher - his hysterically humorous narratives were legendary!!!
Great story and photos. Never took a pet there but watched Over the Line Softball whenever I could. Good fun.
Cheers,
Don
