Yuja Wang performs Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto. In my opinion, it is the most melodic piano concerto. Quite a few "popular" tunes have come from this.

https://youtu.be/ek_kKFE2ibo Wrong link - this is his 2nd piano sonata. I'll post the concerto later.

Here's the concerto: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=yuja+wang%2c+rachmaninov+2nd+piano+concerto&docid=608053737382873233&mid=EA118F3A6F14C4CEE32EEA118F3A6F14C4CEE32E&view=detail&FORM=VIRE

Enjoy,
Mark

I was just listening to this concerto a couple of days ago in the car satellite radio. I also love his third piano concerto, a more technical and difficult concerto to play for the soloist.

Thanks for sharing.

Cool!! I have it and thousands of others on flash drives for my car listening. I don't think Rachmaninov wrote anything other than beautiful.

Thanks,
Mark

I digitized my hundreds of CD's many years ago and they all fit in a 128GB flash drive that I use in our cars. Isn't technology great? Sure beats carrying 10 CD's at a time in those awful cases.

It is fantastic!! I did same plus downloading tens of thousands of mp3 files using Napster, Limewire and Youtube.
I must have 70,000+ files on my PC. I have a dedicated internal SSD for music.

Thanks for the note!
Enjoy your music!

I really like the 3rd concerto. I use the beginning of the 3rd movement as my current ringtone.

Quite beautiful, too! If interested to listen/view, here's the 3rd:

Rachmaninoff was the pianist when the concerto premiered in NYC in 1909. But even more memorable was its second performance a few months later, with Rachmaninoff as the soloist and Gustav Mahler as the conductor. If we could invent time travel, I would love to be there to witness it!

Me too, Dave! I believe that was his 3rd concerto, not the 2nd. Maybe you meant that?

Interesting bit of history.
Thanks,
Mark
