Here are some images I got at a small waterfall about 10 minutes from our house.
The lighting was not the best. And what looks like noise is actually the spray from the waterfall.
These were taken about 3-30 in the afternoon. I think I will go back again, this time in the morning
to get a better angle of light on the falls.

will

Really nice. Wish we could send some of that water to the West Coast.

When you go back, I hope you'll zoom out some and show the surrounding trees and some sky. I also would love to see the falls shot in a verticle, again, zoomed out or with a wide angle lens. And, yes, picking a time in the early morning or late afternoon will improve your shot.

Good job to see the site's potential.

Thank you for taking a look and commenting NMGal.
Yes, they could certainly use some. We have had no shortage of rain here.

When I go back, I will do most of the things you mentioned. I think there will be much sky on any of the images though. The falls are surrounded by trees all along the top.

Waterfalls can be a "tough town", Will. Shots like these, against the light, give a lot of spectral highlights that can be dramatic but also obscure details in the landscape. But with water, even having the light at your back can do the same thing. Many togs try to get out when it is "Cloudy-Bright" to get more detail. I prefer trying to find a time when the light is coming "more from one side". Contrast and shadows can be a problem but not nearly as much as when I used Slide Film. Good luck and share images with us from your next shoot.
