There's a "mathematical theorem" that purports to prove that we are all descended from Charlemagne. I have assumed their arguments apply to people of European origin. http://www.colleengenealogy.net/everyonecharlemagne.html

I looked at the mathematics a few years back and decided to extrapolate the results. My extrapolation showed that the probability that someone of European origin is NOT descended from Bill the Bastard is around 0.000000005. The same argument holds for being related to Harold Godwinson (who lost the battle in 1066) or anyone else from around the year 1100 (assuming they had children). Let me note here that King Duncan (~1010-1040), a contemporary of MacBeth (in fact a cousin) also fits the criteria.

Urraca, Queen of Aragon became ruler of Leon-Castile in 1094 when her husband died. She remarried in 1098 and then spent 13 years at war with her second husband, Alfonso the Battler, to protect the inheritance rights of her son by her first marriage. She is reputed to have led her own armies into battle.

The probability that such individuals are not related to a given individual from around 1200 rises to about 10%.

Haha, good reply. I followed my genealogy back the Rollo the Viking in about 950 and then quit. So, I don't know if Charlemagne is a forbear or not, but I guess I would be in good company if he was. Along with everybody that has English backgrounds.

Every one with blue eyes is related to a single individual (and thus to each other,) that lived about 10,000 years ago.

My mom's family is from the hills of Kentucky.
One of my many cousins started researching the ancestry but did not get very far.
He said everyone there had the same DNA!
