In 2018, I got a shot of “Raymond”, a mule that lived for many years with the herd on the Outer Banks. Locals spoke of Raymond as being mean and nasty.

When I asked about Raymond this year the guide said he was gone - I assumed he had passed after 20-30 years, but happily found he had been moved to a “retirement” area on the mainland.
