If you have done any military service you would know that just like any other group in the military there are the few really good ones, the few wastes of skin, and the rest are pretty good to pretty poor. The higher up in rank you go, especially officers, the more personal politics takes a front seat. I've heard about the story but don't know the specifics. If they were active duty officers they broke the law by endorsing a political candidate.
And yes, I know better than them.
