Went out today to check the close focus on my 24-70 ..., it appears to be working ..... single point focus ..

The second photo... with the entire leaf in focus is, to my mind, clearly superior. That is if sharpness is the point of your post.

Both images taken atF 2.8 I see sharp focus at a single point on both images.

Looks as though the focus was on the centre of the leaf to me. So you are spot on at that distance. Stay well and keep on posting
