The Senate was Republican controlled in 2016, stupid obummer was a lame duck POS.
Precedent IS to proceed with the nomination.
Trump also is NOT a lame duck president and he has the Senate.

Be careful Architect! This sort of information confounds our liberal friends. Their TDS won't allow them to actually understand the situation.

Rationale straight from Pence’s press secretary. It’s about control. He who lives by the sword dies by the sword.

It’s entire possible that while trump will certainly nominate a candidate, McConnell will not push the process.

He is caught between two tough dangers.
1. If he try’s to push the nomination, he runs the real issue of promoting a massive democratic turn that will lose republican control of the senate
Or
2. He does not push the process as a step thus promoting a high republican turn out on the premise he can do it in January after the election, but if trump loses he runs the risk of missing the opportunity for another justice while keeping the senate

Above all McConnell is more concerned about his political future- certainly more than he cares about trump. And only by keeping the senate dues he keep his leadership.

Either way the nomination is probably now issue number 2. In the election after only both virus.

Who knows if it is good or bad and helps which candidate . Based on initial reports

Added:
Thinking more on this . McConnell may hold the hearings but delay the senate floor vote till after the election , that way he protects senators in tough reelection .

Thank you all for making me believe in all of you in this way. Great bunch in many ways.
Regardless of political persuasion.
But politicians on both sides no.

You’ll have to excuse me... I’ve been watching High Lander on Netflix.
I’m all caught up in the moment.
