I'm looking for a reliable, inexpensive flash for my Nikon Df. I shoot manually landscapes, close-ups and macro, so off-camera flash is important. But I still want a good on-camera auto unit for family pix. I'm looking at the Godox V350N at $160. Comments please, and any other possible flashes around that price?

I’m using a Godox V1F for my Fujifilm X-T3, and I have been very happy with it.

I have several Godox TT600n speedlights. They are complete manual units where the V350n has TTL capability and smaller in size. They both have a 2.4G Hz receiver that works very well with the Godox XPron trigger.
I'm very satisfied with them and would recommend the Godox brand.

I have a Godox tt685N and a Godox AD200 that I use with Nikon D7100, D7200 and D500 and they are great and very reliable.

This isn't meant so much as a plug, but I'd consider buying from Adorama with their Flashpoint series which is a re-brand of Godox. Much easier to get warranty work if it ever requires. They have an in house service. I had a Flashpoint Evolv AD 600 Pro battery go bad outside of warranty (Godox rebrand) and they one time replaced at no charge and paid shipping both ways. Godox service might be a little more difficult to obtain.

Completely agree with Haydon... I bought three Flashpoint Evolv 200 pro TTL kits, a radio trigger and some modifiers from Adorama for remote outdoor work. Great service from Adorama and have had reliable results using triggered multiple flashes for well over 12000 cycles. Btw two 200’s can be joined together on a combo head to give a light output similar to Profoto B10 plus

Godox is a great product to look at. The radio system is what sold me. Can use AD200Plus, V1, and flash with one controller.

If I were you I'd head over to Robertsusedcamera.com. I saw SB-900 priced well within your budget. In fact I bought a SB-910 from them for only $150. I'll be using it today. Put a Nikon brand strobe on any Nikon camera and it works perfectly. I've seen people using off brand and have problems when using it.

I purchased a new Yongnuo #685 flash for a Nikon, $102. Yongnuo was considered the best aftermarket flash unit, not long ago. Godox, has curtailed sales today of Yongnuo flash units. That, should tell you something?

The V1 is a great flash. I have several, use them as off camera flashes. They have worked flawlessly. They have a really good locking mechanism for on camera work. Buy from Adorama. Super customer service.

Though I don't use their flash units, I use their transmitter and receivers for my strobes. They are definitely a good buy. I would assume their flash units are of similar quality.

Hi, Check out MoLights
They are rebranded Godoxs and Michael Mowbray backs them up and has training and instructions.
I had a problem with one of my transmitters and emailed Michael and he responded very fast and sent a new unit in a few days without having to send the broken one.
Great service you can't get from China with Godox.

Why not a flash made by Nikon for your camera? I use the SB-600 speedlight with my Nikon cameras and both work to perfection.
Second hand SB-600 sell used for about $100, a majority of them without much use.

Godox (or Flashpoint from Adorama - same thing as just white labeled) are the best value in flash and mono-lights bar none on the market.

They are about one third the price of equivalent competitors products, well built, and equally reliable. There is a debate as to whether they last as long as something like Profoto but even if this is true, you simply can buy a new one after a few years of use and still have paid much less in most cases.

The one negative to Godox is customer service, which I hear is terrible as you have to call China and deal with them. This is the reason to buy from Adorama the Flashpoint version of the flash or light that you want. This way you get the exact same same product (interchangeable with other Godox lights and triggers) and Adorama has great customer service.

In the case of the flash you are looking at be sure to get the Li-on version of the flash so that you have a rechargeable battery instead of AA batteries. The rechargeable lithium ion battery lasts longer and recycles faster and you can recharge it - much better.

Hope this helps.
