Been absent a while. Due to disaster.
Been too tied up to visit here. We live primarily in East Lane County, Oregon. We also have another house near Crater Lake NP. Both remain standing. Whew. Our fires and air pollution have been devastating. Numerous small towns and neighborhoods a bit east of us are gone. Thousands of homes are evacuated. The smoke has been so thick the county health department says it’s “dangerous” to be outdoors the last 9 days.
In spite of all this tragedy county residents, clubs and the like have been tremendous. Thousands of folks are in friend’s or relative’s homes, hotels etc. Donations of food, water, clothing, shoes and the like have been pouring in like hotcakes. So much has been given the County has opened a new much larger site in the city to accept these things. The winds suddenly became so fierce many many folks were injured and fled literally with nothing. Many remain unaccounted for.
I spent over 30 years as a professional firefighter and never saw anything remotely this bad. The generosity is heartwarming and helping us have more faith in the goodness of people. We will endure. Thanks for listening, felt the urge to vent a bit.

This is such a huge disaster. Hopefully it will rain soon and help everyone out. Glad to hear your homes have been saved. Unlike so many others and those who have lost their lives. So very sad
Stay safe, we are praying for you.

Stay well and safe. Hope you can breath some fresh air with no more devistation soom. Glad your homes are OK. My sons family lost a cabin in the woods with 14 others.
My heart goes out to you and everyone at this horrible time. I feel especially bad for those who have lost pets due to the fires. How much worse can 2020 get!

Don't ask the question unless you are sure you can handle the answer.

It has been a bad year. But then tomorrow may hold some pleasant surprises.
No matter how bad humanity gets, when disaster strikes the best in people comes out. I'm glad people in Oregon are supporting their neighbors that are in need. God bless them.
Thank you for your service as a firefighter! You know better than most how terrible these fires can be. I'm so glad to hear that your houses survived! Take care and stay safe.
Best regards,
Don
P.S. You have a right to vent! 👍👍👍
We live near Bend. Have a lot of smoke but no fire. This has really been bad for our state. We are praying for rain.

Us too. We have friends in LaPine also. Take care. Best luck. I’ve checking the satellite images of our other place near Chemult to keep an eye on the Diamond Lake fire.
Hoping for the best for you and yours. Stay safe!
