Lengthy repeats of the initial posts

First let me say how much I enjoy the Hog everyday.
Perhaps this question has been asked before, but it is really for the managers of the forum.
Why do we need the repetitive initial post? It seems to me that it is a waste of bandwidth, and gets annoying if it is a large post that is repeted.
An alternative would be to just repeat the last sentence although I think most of us have the capacity to remember what we have just read.

That's individuals that find the need to quote an entire post. Sometimes it helps to refresh the topic but then again it does waste bandwidth and space on the server.
