I recently purchased a piece of gear from a good friend who passed away. It was something to remember her by, but I don't know what it is. There is nothing written on the object. It was purchased more for sentimental value. I figured this forum would be an ideal place for some ideas as to what I purchased. Thanks
Looks like a swivel mount designed to clamp to a pipe...
Is it a lens support as well as pictured upside down?
Or is it rightside up and a dynamic mount point where the camera mounts to the screw on top and the bottom 'clamps' onto something ?
Car window tripod? Clamp tripod?

Never thought I would actually see one. A transverse rotating inverse dingle arm. It's used whenever a forescentscore motion is required
All of the above, and more. Not joking.

Judging by the rubber bumpers and the rounded grooves on the on the clamping mechanism, it could be a multipurpose device to clamp a camera to a pipe, a car window, or other convenient supports. Notice the ball and socket tripod head on the opposite end from the clamp.
I've used similar looking things to clamp onto a railing of a boat and mount camera on the bolt
It looks similar to this pole clamp for cameras.
Your clamp has separate pads that are installed in the clamp. It looks like it could grip a round object or something flat.

And I thought it was one of those neck mounts. They were popular in the 1980s, but photographers kept passing out while using them.

And now we have the Gorilla clamp - simpler, but not quite as strong.
