I shot with a Pentax K1000 years ago. Later, I purchased a PZ1P film camera which I loved. Today, I own a Pentax K50 as it can use AA batteries in a pinch. Am waiting to see what their newest will be like when it hits the market.

Just wondering if anyone here currently has or has had a Pentax SLR and if you have any thoughts about their cameras. Any thoughts regarding the about to be introduced APS-C camera?

I'm a dedicated Pentax photographer (K-01, K5, K3, KP; with 16-45mm, 20-40mm, 18-135mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 70mm, 100mm, 50-300mm lenses). I would have it any other way. If I compare my Pentax gear to equivalently priced Nikon, Canon, Sony, Lumix, Fuji, or Olympus gear, I come out ahead.

Yes! I have Many PENTAX Camera's When I was in the Air Force I Used Pentax , Had a Motorized Spotmatic and covered the Vietnam war as a combat photographer. It would have been great to have had a ZOOM Lens. But we were Issued a 28mm;50mm, 135mm, and a 200mm.that was our Inventory. Used Pentax up to about 5 years ago then started using Nikon .

I bought my first Pentax, an H3v, in 1964, followed by a Spotmatic, followed by a K40, and a K3. Great optics, reliable cameras, still own all of them and they still work. What more can you expect? Good performance and reliability. Many good pictures and some exceptional ones too.

I still have a Pentax K-1000 with a 24mm lens that I get back in 1982. It still working fine. Have a Pentax K-1000, that is set up for M42 lens. My third Pentax K-1000 is a backup for the other Pentax's cameras I have. Also have a Pentax ME Super. I have found over the years that Pentax's cameras hold up to the test of time.

After reading all the emails and comments about Pentax all I can say is that I have to agree. Other brands are advertised quite heavily and Pentax hardly at all. But Pentax, being the underdog, endures.

I posted early in this post, but since it's active again I'd like to say that my Pentax K3 has been the best bang for the bucks of all my photographic equipment and it is still going strong!

Currently, I still have a K50 with an 18-55 lens I use mainly for landscape shooting. The camera has developed the aperture block problem but is still usable. Have not decided if I will continue with Pentax or not? The new KR looks promising if the defective solenoid has been replaced. My past Pentax cameras included Pentax PZ1-P, K10, K-01 and an older LX. My favorite of all was the PZ1-P film camera. I like my K50 except for the aperture block problem. The K50 could still use AA batteries if needed which was handy.
