First I would like to say, I have read info from you guys for a long time, I have learned SO MUCH from each and everyone. So THANK YOU ALL!!!
I am so excited I just got my new camera the Sony A77 with the sweetest lens I have ever owned 16-15 2.8. I am just a hobbiest, this may be to big a camera for me but I may need input from you guys in the very near future.
I notice there is a lot of Nikon and Canon users not to many Sony, but hope I can get help if you don't mind helping a newbie.
Well happy day to all, I hope to post some pictures soon

Congradulations Blasi on your new camara. Having a new camera will take some time in getting to know its functions and features. So, be very patient during this learning phase. I suggest you buy the book by David Busch specifically written for your camera. He makes complicated subjects easy to understand and explains more about your camera than what you will find in the owners manual. Also, Sony's SLT are a whole different kind of camera, they really heavily on electronics, most notibly the EVF. However, this allows you to see the effects of your settings through the viewfinder before taking the shot, rather than having to preview after the shot. This is a great advantage in situations where lighting conditions change drastically...such as going from outdoors to indoors.
Also take lots of photos, experiment and learn the capabilities of yourself and your camera. And finally....post lots of pictures here.

Have fun...

There are more Sony shooters lurking in the shadows of UHH than you think. We don't show up on the web very often 'cause we're so busy enjoying our Sonys!!!

  :D Wecome to the club!

Hi blasi,

I'm a Nikon shooter but have a friend who shoots an A77 (and A55, 850). Those Sony camera's are excellent and you should have a great time with you new camera. Good choice and share some pix with us. You'll be stunned at the low-light shots you can get with it. Take care & ...

I bought the bundle from the camera store, the lens is Sony 16-50mml f2.8, 72mm. I hope I am saying this correct. The lens is SWEET, very quiet when focusing, heavy, but focal is truly very nicccceeee!!!

Thank you James, I am very lucky to have a easy going hubby that lets me do what I want in buying cameras. Sony would be my only way to go as I have had Sony for many years. The book you recommended was given to me as a gift, so thank you. I just wish Sony would offer class's at our camera shop like Canon and Nikon does. Kinda like a one on one with just Sony users only. Because Sony is a little complicated at times. But still love my 77
Have you read about the Alpha99 coming out? You see I just read it on the Sony website, but I am just sooooo in love with this A77 and the lens...99 can wait for a long time. Thanks for your help... Stay tuned for pictures :)

I have the Little Brother A65 and LOVE it! I bought the Tamron 18-250 lens with it. While reading the Busch book, I realized that I have used my camera for six months and NEVER had used the Auto or Auto+ features due to that EV feature for preview. I have used the Twilight scene mode (fantastic) and Portrait scenes, but never Auto. Congratulations on owning one of the best cameras on the market. Let us see some of your pics!

Well thank you, I can't say enough times that I love this camera. I am just a newbie with it and I am sorta home bound with my 90 year old mom. But I am hoping that she will get just a bit stronger and she can go for car rides with me to take pictures. I have some family pictures from this past weekend and I am trying to get them downloaded to my iMac to see how good or bad I did...

Yep...been keeping up with the A99. Far to expensive for me at this time. And...I never buy the first generation of any new products. I found it best to wait till most the bugs are worked out with time. Maybe in a couple years I might find one (used) at a reasonable price. OK, take lots of pictures of your Mom, you'll be glad you did someday. My father in law lived with us till his death last January so I sympathize and fully understand being somewhat homebound. I miss the old fart even though he drove me bonkers. Again, good choice in cameras (one you can show off with pride). Have fun....

I have a SONY A700 and now the a77 and love both cameras. My main use is interior and exterior waterfront images of cottages and executive homes in The Kawartha Lakes in Ontario, Canada. No doubt a little overkill but our ads stand out from the rest. A good number of HDR images for our virtual tours (www.KawarthaLife.com) and now we can add video with the A77. I love to follow various sites to continue to learn about photography.
