I recently updated my computer to W10. Really do not care for the "new style" and some of the associated issues with it. Such as Printer, D3200 Camera Raw will not open in CS6. researching from PS site their link, it says I need to update my CS6 program or rent updated version for $20.00 month.

Cannot do this, too expensive for an old man (80).

I can still use the jpg file to do some adjustments, but not much luck with darker photos.

Suggestions?

I am calling MS to see if this is something they know about and their suggestions.
I did see on the site link, that I needed to update several drivers. I downloaded their file, but it is a WinZip file update. This is only a Zip file, correct?

Thanks all

The CS6 and Nikon D3200 raw file incompatibility is not a Win10 issue. CS6 will not open the D3200 raw files because the software (CS6) is too old. You have a couple options.

1. You can download the free Adobe DNG converter and convert your D3200 NEF files to DNG. CS6 will then open the DNG files: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/adobe-dng-converter.html

2. You can purchase and install MetaRaw which is a plugin for CS6 that will allow CS6 to open your D3200 NEF files directly: https://thepluginsite.com/products/metaraw/

Didn't your camera come with/make available on line free RAW editing software? Sony does, and I think Canon does. Since I don't use Nikon, I don't know. If not, another reason not to use Nikon.

The "Photographer's Plan" with Photoshop, a couple of Lightrooms and some other stuff is $10 a month, not $20.

I've not quite reach 80 yet, but am getting closer. I recently gave up bourbon, beer, peanut M&Ms, Snickers bars and mashed potatoes. I have loads of money for photography and am getting skinnier.

Nikon cameras always come with software and downloads are always available from the Nikon site.

https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/download/sw/175.html

1.Install the package on your computer.
2.Open Nikon Transfer. Set up your options (look for card/camera, output file locations)
3. Set Capture NX D as your "Open destination folder in ... " Preferences.
4.Download your files from the memory card to your computer using Nikon Transfer.
When the download is complete, the files will appear in Capture NX D - this is your RAW editor.
The output format for Capture is TIFF, if I remember correctly. In Capture, specify your CS6 software for processing the TIFF (Photoshop, I guess). Once you have set all of the options, the process will become almost automatic.
Hope I got this right... Please let me know if this works for you.

Use View NX2 or Capture NX D to edit your raw files. Both programs are free from Nikon and work fine in Win 10.

I'm also getting close to that age group! Hmmm....give up bourbon and beer? Don't we need those to stir up the creative photographic juices? šŸ˜•

Come on now, the member making this comment about Nikon doesn't know enough about photography to use Canon either ....

Dave, consider the free option of the Adobe DNG converter. It runs in batch and quickly gives a compatible DNG file to CS6. Look at the DNG version number that was supported by your CS6 and set that compatibility option. If the subscription was actually $10 as noted in other comments, would that change your interest?

I shoot Pentax and my camera gives me the option of saving in PEF or DNG. I PP with Photoshop Elements and it will not recognize the PEF shots, so I shoot RAW and save in DNG. WOrks great for me. I thought other camera makers allowed similar choices.
