My Z5 will be here Thursday. I love the D850, D500 and D780 and I really like the Z-series. Good going Nikon.
Way to go, give us an update after you check it out so the rest of us looking will know what you think of it.
I watched last night a video on the Z50, the mirrorless DX body from Nikon. From what I saw it seems to be a nice addition to the Nikon line up. A friend of mine, living now in California sold his D5 and bought the Z7. From what I know he is very happy with it.
The Z5 is a relatively new camera, I know very little about it but I am sure that like the other big siblings it will prove to be an excellent tool.

The Z50 was a huge and pleasant surprise. It is really a great little camera for both stills and video. The kit lenses are exceptional in my opinion. The Z5 will be mostly for still photography.

What is a Z5?
Nikon's latest full frame mirrorless camera body.

It's Nikon's newest full frame entry level...think a jr. version of the Z6.
Pluses - 2 card slots, IBIS, focus stacking function.
A few minuses - not a BSI sensor, no top LCD panel, no true vertical grip, a bit overpriced I think (or they should include the FTZ adapter at same price for body only)...but that should come down by holiday season....for me these are minor issues...I might bite when it gets to 1100 body only.
Perhaps the Z8/Z9 will be the Nikon Zs to drool over but we'll see!
I got my Z5 today and just posted an Fx/Dx question. Been using a Z50 and really like it but you can't beat a D500 for BIF.
Mine is on delivery today. It would be terrible for birding at 5fps.

Is 10 FPS good speed for birding ?

Ok thank you. I remember it now. Introduced About mid-summer? A more “economic” mirrorless camera?
Ok, but the old school sensor? Why would anyone want to go backward in time? THe BSI tech is clearly superior by leaps not by a marginal amount.
