My Dad shipped out for the Pacific the day the first bomb was dropped. It may have saved his life. He ended up stationed on Guam.

Glad that your father was saved from the possible invasion of Japan. The Atomic bomb saved many American lives. It was and is still the hardest decision a president had to make. Hopefully no one else will have to make that decision in the future.

I was homeported in Yokosuka during the ‘70s, & I believe that “The Bomb” was a blessing for both sides. The Japanese were preparing every man, woman & child to fight us, even if it was only with bamboo spears. How many would have died then?
I was next stationed where the BATAAN Death March ended. The hatred for the Japanese still existed then. One of the Filipino civilian workers escaped the March, & he had stories to tell (when he would talk about it). If our soldiers treated the Japanese the way that their soldiers treated other countries, Japan would not exist today (I believe).
GOD has blessed us & we must keep HIM in our forefront lest we disappear from the earth.
