in a few hours, I think I'm going to buy a powerseeker 127eq. I want to get something to test the waters with my smartphone and my Nikon D750. I always chuckle when I see this question in forums where I have a bit of knowledge - Is $125 a good deal?

It is certainly a telescope I would consider if I were still in the market. $125 would be a really good price for a new one with all the standard accessories included. Good luck, enjoy it and I hope you get some great pics through it.

You do realize this is going to start you sliding into the Black Hole of Astronomy.
Once I found the Orion Nebula with my spotting scope, I was hooked.
5 months later, a whole slew of stuff was clicked into motion. (Literally, I clicked on the wish list I thought was my best start.)
If my wife ever figures out my investment, I'm sure I'll be talking and singing soprano....
