I offer this flower to ask forgiveness from those offended by my Heron post. With a nod to Dennis for finally showing me how to post, and to Old Hippie.

This is a really nice photograph. Red can be especially difficult to photograph and present in the manner in which you did. You retained and presented the texture quite nicely along with the wonderfully detailed drops of water.

While I didn't particularly like the Heron - it was your image, your choice and comes under the heading of "abstract".
Some like abstract, some only like realistic.
To each his own.

You did pretty good with the rose, solid colors, esp red and yellow are hard to work with.
If it was me I "might" dial back the saturation of the red just a hair - but I suspect the real rose does look like that. Every so often I get one like that on my rose bushes and of course the Florist shops seem to have an endless supply of them.

While asking forgiveness is important let’s presume a new way of looking at things.

If we make a mistake, we will not learn how to correct them Again in the future.

However, if we look at it as a failure, we can learn to do it right the next time.

While it may seem like semantics, it not. It is a philosophy of making ourselves better tomorrow than we were yesterday.

As for the Ugly Hedge Hog, this is a great place to learn, grow and share.

Happy Shooting!

Thank you all for your comments. Especially to Bob.
Yes, and the black background was achieved by using the underside of a cheap mortar mixing pan from H.Depot, the only black thing I could find. Cloned out the reflections of the diagonal lines on it.

It will take more than one good image of a rose, even a red rose, to earn forgiveness for posting the heron image.

This is gorgeous. I find red roses hard to do. I can't seem to keep the vibrance of the red AND the detail in it. Have your printed this?
