I located a bunch of old 8mm home movies from the 1960s. I don't have and can't locate a projector to view them And I don't want to have them converted without seeing what is on them.
I also can't locate an 8mm film editor. So my question is...
Does anyone have any unique method that I might use to get a look at them... considering no projector or editor??
Thanks
Barry

Consider bringing them to COSCO and convert them to a DVD? Or rent a projector.
I don't want to convert them without first seeing what is on them... seeing if it is worth it. I've tried to rent a projector. Even the "real" camera stores no longer have them. I've tried. These things have been out of the mainstream so long now.
Start looking in Goodwill or thrift stores for projectors have seen many over the last couple of years.

Are they 8mm or Super 8mm? If both, if you find a projector make sure it's a dual pupose projector.

I have 1/2 of the answer
I think I can send you an 8mm projector
I would pay shipping and of course check projector first
WHY?
simple I'm 77 and film is so times the only thing left

About thirty years ago, I tried to buy an 8mm projector. No one was selling them. Then I turned to eBay and bought two, one for each of they type of 8mm film I had. In your situation, I would have them converted professionally. Without equipment, you're not going to be able to edit them, so unless you want to discard an entire reel, your options are limited.
This morning I'll check projector and then we can talk, just want to check before I miss lead you
You might also check Amazon.com and see what they have in 8mm movie editors.
When I was confronted with the same problem years ago, I began searching the Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. places and found two very good projectors I was able to use. I was digitizing all my 8mm movies and had to have a projector that I could adjust the speed accordingly and was happy when I discovered the B&H Regent projector that had the speed control knob.
It's kind of sad, browsing through some of those items that just gather dust and sometimes (the young) sales people don't even know what a movie projector was.
Good Luck,
Papa Joe
