I just purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 and upon the initial set up, the printer is stuck on "Printing alignment page". The screen just sits there with no error and doesn't print the page. I've ensured that the cartridges are placed correctly and the paper is loaded. I also tried various versions of a hard reset, but no luck - it always tries to print an alignment page after turning on and gets stuck.
Oddly enough, I can print from a phone or laptop while the message is up, but cannot access the touch screen on the printer, since the message will not go away and it will not print the alignment page.
I chatted with HP tech support and they thought it might be an ink cartridge issue, so I swapped the cartridges that came with it for a set of brand new HP cartridges, tried all the same tricks, and it still gets stuck at the same point.
They came to the conclusion that I should go back to Best Buy and swap it for a new one, or they could ship a replacement. However, before I go through that hassle, I’d like to find a way to do a full reset to factory settings, since I’ll bet that will do the trick. Has anyone ever encountered this? Anyone know if there is a way of bypassing this part of the set up?
Thanks.
(FYI, this was a printer purchased to help with virtual school for the kids so they can print from their Chromebooks. My main printer is a Canon that’s always performed flawlessly.)
I’m sure tech support told you to unplug the main power cord, wait a bit then plug it back in and try again?
Take the deal to swap it out for a new one. End the torment.

Yep. Tried that. Also removed the cartridges and tried it, but still the same issue. I think because it happened during the initial setup, the printer refuses to move on until it completes that step. That’s why I’m hoping a factory reset will take care of it, but I haven’t found a way to do that yet, and HP doesn’t publish the procedure for that.

Indeed take back! Other options will be more frustrating and likely unsuccessful.
After owning several HP printers and when my last HP crapped out and I was looking for a new printer my primary requirement for the new one was "anything but a Hewlett-Packard".
I have a Canon Pro 100 I use for photos but my go-to printer is a Xerox color laser printer and it works great. And I got a great deal on it from Costco - $150 something down from over $400 at the time.

Are you serious??
Why would Epson know anything about an HP printer??
Did you the cd that came with the printer? If you did you have to delete the cd installation . Then re-install it. If this does not work take the printer back. I have an HP printer that is supposed to fax but it hangs up ( does not transmit) the paper needed to fax . But I use it mostly as a printer
