I remember the first McDonalds opening in Tampa. I think it was 1959. Hamburgers were 15 cents, cheeseburgers were 19 cents, fries were 12 cents, and soda was 10 cents and shakes were 25 cents. That was the entire menu. No indoor dining, just walkup but service was fast. As you were telling the cashier what you wanted, the bagger was filling the bag and by the time you paid with cash, the bag was ready to pick up.

We stopped eating at McDonalds many many years ago. Ditto for other low end fast food places. Did you know that McDonalds hamburgers can last 14 years without showing any mold or rot. See...

Our favorite burger joint, Twisted Root Burger Co., has sadly disappeared in our area due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on restaurants.

The burger joints here switched to "drive-thru" only, and seem to be doing {from the lines} just fine

That's about what we paid in Maryland back then. We only had White Castle & Little Tavern burgers, otherwise
and not much else from which to choose.

Our only fast food place was Carrol's and that was 55 miles from our house.
McDonalds bought them out when I was in the military. Carrol's said they didn't
have enough business to stay open. That was in upstate NY, I now live in Arizona
last trip up that way thought I'd stop, just for old time sake. Couldn't even get
in they were so busy.

The McDonalds' Filet-o-fish was invented here in Cincinnati in a predominantly Catholic neighborhood, to maintain business during Lent. I live less than 1/2 mile away from this store. You should see the lines during Lent. They usually run some kind of special to draw in a crowd.

Yes I knew that as I frequently had a burger at the very first McDonalds ever in San Bernardino California after school.
