Usually by this time of year I have many of these around the yard....
This is the first one so far this year....
It really has been a crazy year this year, all my birds, flowers, insects, butterfly, hummers, etc. all have been much later than usual.

Wasn't there a movie about that? I seem to recall the name "Charlotte." 
They gave spiders drugs, and their web-making was a mess. Not sure what kind of drugs.

Good Spider shot! Timing of my insects has been strange as well - I use dates with files so could check back - not imagination!

👍 That us a good picture of a great spider. If you are up to it, it is fun to catch a small insect and drop it into their web to watch the action. Not everyones' cup of tea, though.
They do tend to be sitting where you see only their ventral side. If you reach around and gently tap them on the back, they will often flip sides and you can take a picture. I promise it won't do anything to you.
There are so many reports of how this season has been hotter and dryer than usual!

Yes last year I had several of these around the house.
Sometimes I would just touch the web and they would make the web vibrate to scare me away.
And one time I saw a fly land on a web, and that spider had that thing caught and wrapped in a wev it spun around it in what seemed like only seconds.
