Now that my wife and I reside in New Hampshire, we are constantly on the go to find great places. Here is one such place, Calef's Country Store, in Chelmsford Mass., which has been there since 1869. These country stores have something for EVERYONE!

Hope you like, and if you don't...well, you can PM me why...LOL

We are blessed in having these wonderful places. The Vermont Country store in Weston is another one to seek out if you haven’t already.

So much fun are places like that....thanks. I always enjoy walking around inside them to look at all the treasures they have inside.

Hi mizzen, thanks for the reply, and yes, we have been to the Vermont Country Store in Weston and also quite a few others. We moved to N.H. a little over 3 years ago from Los Angeles, (actually, I was born and raised in New York City, and moved to CA when I was 19, and even though I'm 83, that still hasn't stopped us from driving all over the New England area, exploring.

Hi Blair, I agree with you. There is almost tooooo much to see in these country stores. You can go back several times and still not see everything...

Hi Valsmore, These places are the most fun to go through and even though my house is not "country style," there are always little things to purchase.

If you're interested in going a bit furthur...
Nook and Cranny Restaurant in Baileyville, Maine has some nice meals. I pickup loads at the Baileyville paper plant, and the restaurant just happens to be on the way back to the 95...
If I can get there when its open, the lobster bisque is wonderful and the lobster rolls are huge. I drive a semi, so I have to eat. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
Also Dysarts Truck Stop has a decent restaurant. On Coldbrook exit off the 95.

One of my favorite things in stopping in Windthorst Mercantile in Windthorst, Texas. You can get a cup of coffee, a pair of boots, a chainsaw or as fried egg sandwich or some really good cheeses. It has been that way all of my 77 years and about 40 years before I cam along.
