I purchased Fix-It Utilities in October 2017 and have had quite satisfactory use with annual renewals. This month (July) I was charged for the annual renewal. I contacted Avanquest and inquired "why are you charging me the annual renewal in July when the purchase date was October? I got no satisfactory reply. Later that day I received an email saying the renewal was refunded and the service cancelled. The program has disappeared from my computer and I cannot find a phone number for service, entering my log in only shows "computers off line" even though the computer is obviously connected. Any one else had problems with Fix-It Utilities? Why can't I get a phone number for service? What programs are others using with their computers without any nonsense?

Maintenance utilities for Windows computers have been unnecessary for many years. In many cases, they cause more problems than they "solve". Windows has its own built in maintenance capabilities that are very effective. You're better off without it. Reviews of the product are quite bad, especially the support and the games they play with billing.

At this point, it's important to find every trace of it that you can, and get rid of those traces. This may be a job for a professional computer tech if you're not skilled in these issues yourself....and stay away from third party utilities that claim to make your computer work better. They don't.

That's because they get to use your money months early. But they don't want to tell you that.
Same as magazines that start sending renewal notices six months ahead of the expiration.
Hoping you send in the renewal so they get to use your money longer.

That is for sure! If people validate a certain utility by spending money on it, Microsoft adds that functionality to Windows, and they can usually do it better since they have access to the underlying code.

The "FixIt Utilities" are very good. For what they are.
IF your'e doing basic tech work, they'll help- a lot. Makes troubleshooting easier.
Install them, run them, fix what needs it, good to go- uninstall.

In my opinion Chrome is far Better than Edge

When you all talk about Edge, are you referring to the latest version? It's apparently quite different from earlier versions and, I think, has been getting good reviews....

I have both Edge & Chrome. No, you cannot uninstall Edge and if you use Cortana (search box to the right of Start) you will be using Edge as a search engine. When Win10 was first issued, one could change the search engine used in Cortana, but within a short period of time, Microsoft changed that and disallowed any other search engine as an option for Cortana. I have two monitors, so when I use Cortana, it opens on my right hand monitor. The left hand monitor uses Chrome.
I find them pretty equivalent as search engines/broswers.

I stopped using maintenance/fixit utilities years ago. I do not see a need with Win 10 Pro.

Mark, I have an older Win 10 laptop that runs at a snail's pace. I have been meaning to look into utility softwares to help clean out clutter. All of you seem to be against this kind of software. I don't have Win Pro, but is there something I can do with Win 10 Home to speed things up?

If you replace the OS drive with an SSD, you will find the speed considerably improved. If that is not possible, it may be time for a new PC/laptop? How old is it? You might consider a fresh install of Win10, but that means reloading programs/settings, ....A PITA.

Thanks, Mark. That laptop is so old I can't remember how old it is! 😡 I do have a newer one that runs fine (after I replaced the hard drive that crashed!)

The reason I asked is that I understood you (and someone else on the thread) implied that you don't need to add utility software because Win 10 has enough maintenance tools. Maybe I got that all wrong...

Someone else indicated that, but I stopped using maintenance/utilities many years ago.
