Does Tamron have plans to upgrade the Tamron 90mm SP firmware to support Nikon Z5, Z6, and Z7 cameras? I sent an email to Tamron support but the answer was cryptic at best. I have three other Tamron lens - 24-70/F2.8, 70-200/F2.8, and 17-35/F2.8-4, and Z series firmware support is provided.

I would imagine so. They have lots of lenses to provide firmware for including for other brands.
The Z cameras will be using those lenses by many people so it should happen.
Hang in there.

Thanks for the link! It must be a fairly new update. I appreciate your assistance.

Thanks. I checked their website but I’m sure it was prior to 06/22.

I have always believed in using the lenses made by the manufacturer for their cameras.
I have and NEVER an issue with them.

Thanks, I understand completely and do not disagree. However, the Tamron lenses I own perform well, have excellent build quality, good support, and have not been an issue at all. Plus, they fit my budget. Now if money were no object...LOL...Thanks again for your feedback!

Interesting that it says that the older model, #272E only supports manual focus. I’ve been using it on my Z7 for focus stacking and it works flawlessly. For the others it depends on which model you have. It looks like the newest one supports the Tap-in console and the other you’ll have to send it in to get the update.

Fortunately my Tamron lens are SP (except for the 17-35 F2.8-4). I have the Tap-In console and it works well. Thanks!

My husband updated the firmware on my SP 35mm and 35-150 lenses, both of which now work with the FTZ but was unable at last attempt (a couple months ago) to have success with the SP 90mm. I know that a lot of people are losing patience waiting for the update - I'm currently hanging on b/c the 90mm is such a good lens but my patience is beginning to erode and the Sigma 105mm macro is starting to look like a viable replacement, especially at its current price.

"Future Support Planned" gives no indication of how far in the future this support will become available!

Which model of the 90 do you have?

It's the F017 - I'm told that it will work with manual focus but that's really too limiting.
