My cousin is an IT person and is building me an amazingly fast computer for photography. My question, he is not going to buy me the screen, he doesn’t know what photographers need. What is your suggestion for best quality screen? Thank you!!

Cool that your cousin is doing that for you. Here's the monitor you should consider.

I recently replaced an old Eizo monitor which originally cost me more. than $3000. I found that BenQ makes photography specific monitors with comparable performance for much less than Eizo. I got the BenQ SW271, a 27" monitor for $1100. BenQ also makes less expensive photography monitors.

I like the BenQ series of hardware calibrated monitors with 99% Adobe RGB coverage.

You can buy a DELL IPS 4k 27” for $500, or even an LG 5k for $1200. And if you are really serious... calibration hardware/software for $225. That should do the trick for even a professional.

Tried the link today and was available. Also, as a note it is a used monitor.

You might consider a slightly lesser quality monitor at a fraction of the cost. The Benq mentioned is excellent. You can go with the Ferrari or just a lowly BMW.

Not that computer savvy but, Apple makes a great screen and if they sell separate screens and will work with your system it might be worth looking at.

I would look at the BenQ monitors. And make sure that the video card to be installed in your new computer will properly drive the monitor of your choice and have the needed ports to attach it to the monitor. I prefer display port cables and ports for monitors and video cards.

Remember the sage advise about letting UHH members spend your money. There are needs and there are wants. I suspect much of the advise you'll get on here will be dream wants of others. All you really need is a good sized quality monitor from a reputable brand. I use a 24" Asus monitor that suits my needs fine. I paid less than $150 on Amazon. I'm the only one who looks at it. I do need to upgrade my 12 year old computer though.

Wow, a $2k+ monitor! My entire Dell tower did not cost that much. I think what matters most is I have 32 GB RAM, and a decent video card and Monitor. And I know how to adjust Ps and Windows to print correctly on my Canon PRO-100 Printer.

I always buy the Asus professional ProArt monitors. even at the cheap end they are great for accuracy with colours. https://www.asus.com/us/site/proart-Professional-Monitors/
