I think it's a great shot as is but if you insist I'm not really crazy about the eagle nest as you can see it's hand built and not natural. That caught my eye before the sunset which would make it a bad thing in my eyes. So there you go, you forced my hand but I certainly wouldn't put the shot you have in file 13 by any means. As always keep them coming, it's always great to see your photos........

Thanks Coco for the compliment and critique. Your observation was exactly what a friend's complaint was regarding the photo. I thought the nest would add a bit more interest to the photo's composition, but I can see and respect your point of view. The lines of the nest are perhaps too strong, thus shifting the eye away from the sunset.

By the way, the nest is not that of an eagle but of an osprey. I wish I had eagles around here. 8-)

Did you use any filter? Thanks for including your settings. I have had sunsets
look washed out, and am trying to find out what I need to do to improve them. I use SX 40. Canon Bridge.

No KR, a filter wasn't used. When I photograph sunsets I am continuously checking the image and either increasing or decreasing the exposure value. I also use different metering modes and vary what part of the frame I am taking the exposure from. Experimentation, persistence & patience, and the shots will come. 8-)

I think this is great! and the Osprey nest adds to it, IMO.
