Sandhill Cranes - the "fight"

I have decided to share a couple Sandhill Crane images. Two of them were nesting and the other two were getting close to their nest - closer than they wanted - so a couple fights ensued ! I have never seen this behavior before and was stunned to witness it. Shot with Canon XT and 500mm F6.3 Rokinon mirror lens from monopod. These are not technically great images - but the content is what makes them special IMHO.

Way to go! Right place, right time... Yes. But you still had to take a great shot. Well done you.

Thanks Paintedspoon - I certainly will never forget it ! And, thanks mdeman - The one with the nest is the one on top in the second image, so I would have to say they won ! The others left soon after - never to return.

I think the technical stuff gets put aside when you get rare shots like these. Although I think the photos are pretty darn good.

Great catch!
That was a "big" fight as these are not small birds......

As I started reading, my first thought was that maybe they were mating. Then I looked at the pictures. Sure does look like a fight. Great pictures.

Thanks to smcaleer and Jay Pat for the views and comments and CCPhotoist as well . These were shot a while back before I got serious about digital cameras and semi-retired.
