This little critter is a "Ten Lined June Bug". It's defense mechanism is to hiss. The hiss is really loud for a bug that measures just over an inch from stem to stern. Apologize for a little fuzziness; I couldn't get him to sit still. Not Ansel

Thanks for pointing out flag like appearance. I hadn't noted it. Isn't it amazing how often we take a shot and it is not until later that we find, or someone points out, an something extra in the picture. Thanks. Not Ansel
