Can anyone tell me how the Canon SX70 will fit my very large hands. (Am I the only one who thinks that this camera is actually an old Polaroid model)

Yes, the sales person at your local camera store can tell you that.

And long before the Cadillac XT4 and XT6, there was the Subaru XT4 and XT6.

It will fit. It will work. Whether you like how it fits and works is not a question of hand size. It’s just a matter of whether the particular camera appeals to you, not by specs and features but by actually handling it.

Stick it on a tripod, and just use your fingers.

I used to be able to palm a basketball (barely) when I was much younger. Maybe your hands are Dr. J sized?

I have the Canon SX60 and it is fairly easy to use. I enjoy it for hiking due to its weight being very small compared to my DSLR and its zoom is one of its best features, allowing me to get extreme closeups of turtles and herons I couldn't get close to (due to them being a hundred yards out in the river we frequent). When I do carry it, I like to take a lightweight tripod along as well to steady the camera when I zoom in to the equivalent 1365 mm of a full size DSLR.

You should really try it out. Buying a camera is like buying shoes, try them on first.

I have the same issue, my hands are not comfy with a small form factor camera, except for very occasional use. I sold off my D3200 Nikon and several P&S & Superzoom models for same reason. Using a camera or any tool for extended periods requires good fit (for me), as my hands and fingers will cramp if forced to contort. Personally, I'm not comfortable with any Nikon of lesser size than a D7100/7200, and FF really fit nicely.

Don't laugh, but I recently stopped the purchase of a neat little sports car because my size 13.5 Quad E shoes would cause me to have to think about placement and had a tendency to tangle up working the pedals (or actually have overlap) something I don't have happen with normal size "stick" vehicles. And NO, it wasn't a "pedal car" !!!

I feel your pain. I have a Fujifilm X-T20 which I really, really like however it is so small that I have a difficult time keeping the palm of my hand from touching the buttons on the back of the camera and I have to use my imagination that there is a place to grip it. I purchased a baseplate with a protruding grip that help a bit although just a bit.

I now use it for my staged focus stacking sessions where it does an excellent job for me. With that as my dedicated setup camera I purchased a Nikon Z6 as a walkabout camera and although small, it fits my hand much, much better and its grip provides secure handling and indexing for operating its controls.

Back in the 1970s I worked in a camera store. When a customer came in with no system in mind, I would set out Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Mamiya-Sekor bodies around the same price, and asked them to handle each one to see what fit their hands and eyes best.
Ideally you fit the system to you and not you to the system.

Give your local Best Buy store a call and they will schedule an appointment for you to go into their store so you can see and feel the Canon SX-70. It is important that you have one in your hands.

I have that camera with others, and have large hands. I think it fits just fine with controls in nice locations. I recommend it for quality and ease of use.
