Chinaman, Your photos then became WOW.

Where was the Catherdral Dome taken ???

From now I will try some, but hope I can get up again.

Bebel.

Thank you Bebel. I feel stupid as I can't quite remember which cathedral it is now. Most likely one in Paris, France. I'll have to look back in my folder to know for sure. Will reply another time.

Wow. Yes. Great shots and much needed on this forum. Thank you for your talent and insight.

I've been getting so frustrated here. Seems like the best photogs have been leaving. (iI'm not counting the Captain -a superb portrait photographer or Roger Francis - the king of rangefinders). But The Alaskan is gone. Notnobuddah ain't here no more - although he posted not much, like I do. Seems like we've been left with flowers and squirrels and hummingbirds.

Please keep posting. You inspire, and encourage to stretch. That needs to be done. Thank you.

Thank you friedeye. The lack of other types of images was my impetus for posting this. We get a few newbies to photography each day and I don't want them to think that photography is mainly about macro insects, flowers, birds in flight and sunsets. They all say that they want to learn so I try to offer some tips on how to see with their mind's eyes and achieve that image on their screen. Most of the shots posted are found around where you live - buildings, shopping centres, bridges. The object of the exercise is 'different viewpoints', not which exotic city I shot them in. They serve to illustrate how different and interesting ceilings are, for instance.
Thank you for sticking around.

I have no problems crawling through dirt, sand or whatever if I can get the shot I want. Let's be real, I've gotten dirty for shots that that sucked.

Good on you hlmichel!

Most photos are taken at eye level of the standing person. Change your shooting position sometimes if you physically can - sit or squat down, lie on your front or back, get up high and look down, crane your neck and look up. You'll be amazed at the different perspectives and interesting images you'll get. Enjoy, and comment if you wish to. Or add your examples.

Love your perspective! Here's a few of mine!

Thank you Natasha for joining in. I like the tree shot best. The tree is sharp in the middle but the bottom and top are not. For this type of image, I would use a small aperture like f/22 and focus near the bottom of the tree and you should get the whole tree sharp from the bottom to the top.
The first image is well caught and well exposed. The third image can do with some post processing to reduce the brightness in some areas and to increase the brightness in the dark side of the turtle. Do you have a photoeditor? I am pleased you got down to the turtle's level.

Yes, I'm playing with lightroom now and am getting a better handle on my D7000. I'll be going back to the tree and turtle this fall I think and will try out my newly acquired skills. Thanks for your posting.

Love all the photos, but that one is my favorite photo! You took it in a mall? That is amazing! I was wondering where that was at.....

Hi Doe. Yes, it is now a mall in the middle of the city. It used to be a lead factory. There are some excellent mall ceilings, especially the old ornate buildings. I attach another beautiful one, this time in Paris. So when you are out shopping, don't just look in the shops, look up as well.

Thank you jfantasma. Just returned from being overseas for a month, hence the late reply. Like you, I do like this site as the members are generous with their advices and even long time photographers like me can still learn a lot of new things. I may be good or experienced at certain types of photography, but certainly not everything.
