I just received an email from a club member that the Canon repair center, in Melville, NY, has been closed. All repairs are to be sent to:

Canon Factory Service Center
12022 Canon Blvd.
Newport News, VA 23606

I wonder why they are doing this? The Nikon repair center, is open, and it's less than a mile away. It will be interesting to learn what prompted them to close.

I have bought a lot of Canons in the past 50 years which never needed repair. Perhaps I buy the latest model before the older ones could possibly need repair. Nice to know the repair center is a 20 minute drive from me though. I will still purchase my cameras from NY.

Nikon and Canon repairs centers were too close together.

They are one and the same. The parts are interchangeable.

Agree. I've owned Canon since 1974 back in film days. So far the only camera I had to have work done on is the 10D and that was just a pin bent. The only lens I had to have worked on was the 100-400. Unfortunately it was out of warranty so that came out of my pocket lol

That location is also Canon USA headquarters. Just because the Nikon repair center nearby has opted to reopen doesn't have any relationship to Canon's decision to shut its Long Island repair facility for the duration of the pandemic.

NY State is an even less friendly place to live and do business. Political actions have consequences. Most businesses can move to more friendly lower tax, regulation and congested locations for a one time cost.
