Calling Nikon tech support immediately is the best advice I can give you. Lucky for you, Nikon kust re-opened its repair facility in LI. They should be able to give you a quote so you can choose between repair/used/reconditioned lens. Remember that USA lenses come with 5 year warranties. I hope you are in luck. Best.

My guess is the focusing parts are not working.
You might want to consider contacting Nikon as I have heard that they offer repair services.

Hopefully you have a simply issue to resolve BUT I have had TWO Nikon AFS lenses serviced in the past 6 months. 24 1.4 G and 70-200 2.8 G. Both needed new a AFS assembly @. $400 +/-. APS in Illinois did the work. good option. Nikon wanted $650. In addition, the 24 1.4 needed a new PCB. That would have been $600 more BUT was covered by a deal with Nikon. Otherwise, than lens would not have been fixed.

My favorite lens autofocus stopped working. Switch M/A M in M/A position. Yesterday I cleaned electronic lens contacts but problem still persists. I tried using this lens on 2 cameras with the same result. Using another lens on these cameras autofocus is working. I need advice for solving my problem.

I’m not sure which Nikon DSLR you are mounting your lens, but many Nikon Enthusiast/Prosumer bodies include a selector for AF. Please be sure to check if the switch is on Auto.
