Just at lunch, a new bather. Got only these three shots. I hit the internet pretty hard, didn't come up with anything close. What do you think?

Thanks for the tip. Looked up a photo - he looks thinner bodied than that, and has what appears to be a yellow tail. Could be! Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Overall shape and beak shape suggests a Oriole. Is he robin size or sparrow size. Since I can't come up with any other option that would be in Montana I would reluctantly, with great trepidation, make a guess that maybe it could be a Bullock's Oriole

Check out the Inaturalist app, it helps identifying nature.

I believe you have it - I have photographed the male on several occasions, but had not seen a female. The Cornell bird site has the female with no head markings and less vivid colors. Thanks - never thought of that!

Merlin Bird ID app suggested an oriole, also. Bullock's Oriole or female Baltimore Oriole. I believe it being wet made it darker than expected.

The feathers would also be fluffed up, making it look plumper.
