The most photogenic day: Day 23 along the Waterpocket Fold

We knew that we wanted to explore a new route down this most southern section of the Waterpocket Fold and our map indicated a possibility but we weren't sure it would "go". Giles dubbed it The Mezzanine and not only did it go, it exceeded all of our expectations as to beauty. Here's photos from the first half of the day, before we set up camp.

The first gives you an idea of why we called it the mezzanine, the last one offered us a break from the sun and the heat which was beginning to get oppressive. Please view in download. Tomorrows pictures show the advantages of just spending your whole time looking for and taking pictures- not carrying a backpack and not worrying about falling off a cliff.

Beautiful country well captured. Thanks for sharing. Need to put that place on my bucket list.

OMG, from some one in the prairies, this place just seems so awesome. Great pictures. No street signs to help if you get lost. ... smile

Amazing shots. Brings back the feelings I had when I hiked to the Wave 20 years ago. Although your shots are technically superior.

I was a 69y/o couch potato before COVID hit. "And it went downhill from there...."

The big difference is that to get to the Wave takes only a dayhike (and the luck to get a permit). This trip took 25 days and was rarely on a trail....

Stunning set - thought I could see Clint Eastwood peeping out for behind those rocks.
