Perhaps another difference is you had advantages that some did not—subtle advantages that gave you an edge, while others were never taught or encouraged by parents or society that one could earn. Instead, doors of opportunity were never possible or understood.

The main advantage that I had, not my race, but I grew up in a stable family. My parents worked their asses off so their children could have the advantage of a better life, than they had. And we did. That ethic is largely missing in many black's lives. Is it rascism that their is a breakdown in the black family? Is there rascism? Yes. There is Antisemitism as well. Has it stopped Jews from success, No. Mainly because of a strong familly structure. The dissolution of the black inner city family is actually a result of well meaning liberal welfare reform. Te unintended consequences of those welfare changes lead to fathers leaving the familt. Black children are raise d by single mothers. Hence the nbreakdown of the black family.
