I've posted the following image before, but I think it's important to think about the aspirations and intent illustrated by the texts we circulate daily and compare it to our collective actions. In addition to unity, liberty trust and God, our legal tender is embossed with 'e pluribus unum' which we all know is "from many, one". I challenge us all to foster liberty without modifying words like social, racial, or religious to diminish its universal intent. I pray we as a nation embrace the moral responsibilities to family, community, and nation that all religions and all Gods have taught and in so doing build a community and nation that does trust one another, and can unite behind the tenets of these few words. Let us, though our word and out actions, including civil discourse, stop the trends of distrust and division that are working to reverse the mantra of e pluribus unum.
