I really doubt that one man sitting in a house in DC has much to do with infection rates. It's really our behavior as individuals, whether we take precautions or not, that has more to do with it. This virus is not a member of either party although I realize that this threat is really too much for a politician of either persuasion to pass up. Politicians make a living capitalizing on our concerns, they are after all influence peddlers.

Looking at the Democrat response to the protests and how they want money to bailout all their failed cities under the guise of virus bailout money, how can anyone criticize Trump? In fact if you follow the time line, he responded weeks before to this virus by enacting a travel ban while the Democrats encouraged social get togethers. The Democrats have the media in their pocket however, so many stories of their failures get buried while Trump is put under a microscope. The hypocrisy of this New Democrat Party and the biased Leftist media is incredible.

Yeah, the funny part is, according to today's Worldometer site (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries) while the US indeed has over 2 million cases (all the better to scare the innumerate useful idiots 'cause it's such a big number - oooh!) when you look at deaths per million population (today's number is 348 deaths per million in the US) we see that the UK has nothing to brag about (606 deaths/million).

In fact, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Sweden, France and the Netherlands all have higher rates per million as well. And Sweden, who never shut down like the rest (thanks to our petty tryant political scumbags) fares better than the UK as well - so why not whinge about your own country, bubba.

In other words, as Retired CPO implies, (aptly named) braindamage - STFU.

worldometer is a great site. Thanks for sharing.

Looking at the number of Covid-19 deaths divided by the over 2 million reported cases in the USA, we have a 5.5% mortality - 1 person in every 20 who get Covid-19 are dying. Not 0.001% of cases like the flu.

And some countries are making this political - stopping reporting of statistics, etc. Afraid of the truth?

Well, remember that the number of cases statistic is highly suspect as well....first, the issue of a patient with obesity and heart failure who dies and happens to have Covid is tallied as a "Covid death" (in order for the hospital to get the $13K payment from medicare) and then the issue of how many asymptomatic cases have been out there - there was the UC Berkeley doc who estimated the actual number of infected might be 40 - 80 times as much as reported.

But it's all so new; there are a lot of unknown unknowns (do face masks help? the WHO changed their take on even that)- and add to that the retarded level of politicization applied ("it's all Trump's fault!") that a sensible dialog on the topic is all but impossible.

As the adage goes, you can have your own opinion, but not your own facts.

Deaths from the influenza, COVID-19, etc, are reported as the number of deaths per TOTAL infections, not TOTAL REPORTED infections. Studies at accredited universities like Stanford and UC Berkley, among others, came up with similar numbers in separate studies which show infection rates 40X-50X reported infections. At the low end, the infection rate is 80,000,000, and the upper end 100,000,000.

Add to the above, that COVID-type viruses have difficulty penetrating after the 75% infection rate; they simply run out of the ability to infect. Herd immunity, natural body immunity, etc., all play a role.

Trump has failed, and people are dying, and will continue to die.

Sure. Corona virus is Trump’s fault.

Sheesh. TDS seems far more infectious than previously thought.

Well, you know the adage - "if they didn't have double standards, Democrats wouldn't have any standards at all"....and almost daily we see examples.

You Americans forget the difference between the US and the UK (and most other countries by the way). The UK is a single country with a single government and when it says to do something generally people do it. As it happens if the govt doesn't say the right things at the right time then you get chaos which they did.
Now the US is a collection of individual states which runs loosely as a federation under the US federal govt. So there are heaps of things where there is a distinct lack of clarity between who does what and why. eg you try and get a prescription filled in a different state than where it was issued. So you already have chaos built in.
And to add to that you have some issues in the constitution (freedom of speech etc) which complicates various responses.
So you have a central govt that maybe wants to do the right thing BUT you have so many other things working against that with an end result that it is impossible for anybody to act for the greater good. Trump is just a side issue and not even worth discussing in this context. I do have to add that I feel you also have a lot of people who are incapable of understanding what the greater good even is. Hence wandering about without masks or social distancing is a selfish response to the greater good. And who am I to criticize any of you if you are determined to commit suicide or even moving the US into an also ran position.
This virus is real. It can and does kill you. If you recover you have a good chance that you will end up with lifetime health issues. And still you wander about as if nothing was going on.
And before anybody gets stuck into me I do feel for the issues you have with police brutality. This is an ongoing problem, it has been there for decades, and nobody has yet decided to actual fix it. But unfortunately now is not the time to attempt it. In 50 years time they will look back (not that this is any issue for all those currently participating in this craziness because you will all be dead) but it sure as hell will be an issue for your grandchildren. They will wonder what on earth were those old bastards even thinking since they helped screw up such a calamitous time.
