As complaints pile up about packages delayed and sometime completely missing, also realize that millions of items per day are delivered correctly on time.

They're all screwed up. Especially Amazon Prime. Keep in mind we're paying for a service we're not getting. Yes I understand Covid -19 is the cause. I just ordered a Carbonation Drink thingy, it came in 2 days, (not essential). Ordered some vitamins weeks ago, I guess an essential, still waiting. I ordered Paper Towels from KaTom Supply 5/1/20, they sent me toilet paper instead. I've been waiting for correct replacement order since 5/5. Then I looked at reviews, everyone was a negative. Delivery dates change every time I tract something. My advice, shop local if you need in a hurry and if you can. Plus it'll help out your local stores.

After several examples such as yours, I deduced that anything with a delivery date over 10 days (with some exceptions) was coming from China. I quit buying items like that because they would not be delivered on time and most probably can be purchased locally, like you mentioned. Thank you for bringing up this point.

Last Saturday I ordered a small item from amazon prime. The delivery date was Monday. Monday i tracked the package and it was out for delivery all day until 10:00 pm. Strange, since the post is normally delivered between noon and 14:00. It never arrived; and after 22:00 i had a message that said "delivery delayed. expect package either tomorrow (Tuesday) or the day after". Tuesday, late in the day, the notice said the "package was delivered". It was on the steps or in the mail box and the 800 help number was no help. Wednesday the notice said the package was out for delivery. It finally showed up.

Thursday I went to the local post office to mail a large envelope and asked the nice lady what was with the confusion. Here answer " the ground delivery system is in a state of confusion". She pointed out that only one of the three windows was staffed and that many people were not working. I know a retired US post supervisor and he said he retired early because " he could not take it anymore". The upper management fellow workers were (fill in the blank)

In the past few years all three (US post, Fed ex and UPS) have delivered packages to the wrong addresses in our small neighbor hood of 8 houses.

And you're in the USA! Try ordering things from the USA from outside; total confusion!!

I ordered a couple of telescope adapters from Florida; normal delivery via USPS in about five days (to Canada). Three weeks later it is still shown as being in Miami. Four weeks later still in Miami. Five weeks later it arrives but it is still shown as being in Miami! Orders from Hong Kong and Japan are arriving in 3-5 days!

An order from New York was passed on to USPS who then passed it on to DHL to get it across the border, then passed it back to Canada Post for delivery; interesting tag team approach...

Took all the way to the 2nd or 3rd reply for the political crap to start. Ya know that everything has to be Trump!s fault.

News flash...the USPS has been fubar for decades...long before the evilness of Trump came on the scene.

The President is neither the bestest ever as some of his supporters claim...nor is he the devil incarnate that liberals and their media friends claim. He’s done some things wrong...but in the eyes of many he’s done some things right. Libs won’t admit this though.

And no...I’m not a great fan. He is better than the alternative was in 2016...but that’s like asking if you would rather be hung or beheaded...he was the better of two terrible choices.

The problem with the USPS basically comes down to the fact that they were cut loose from government funding...but not government control. Every other business can set their rates, partially fund their retirement system and close unneeded stores, factories or offices. They can’t do any of those things.

They should be cut free completely and allowed to operate as any other business is...although if you wanted to keep the requirement to deliver to every address in the country that’s fine...but their financial problems are not entirely of their own doing. Decades of mismanagement, overly generous pension plans for the union members and the inability to charge more to deliver a letter Than it costs to deliver it are a large part of the problem.

It was a liberal Democrat who privatized it...and set it on the road to its current sorry state.

None of this is funny. The divisiveness, the tribal divide will ruin this country while some watch, and you laugh.
Again, what is happening in this country is a far cry from laughable.

You mean the tribal divide that is just as much liberals fault as conservatives.

Oh, sorry...I forgot that you libs know so much better than anybody else how to run things...but sooner or later you’ll run out of other peoples money.

The USPS has never been privatized, but t-rump has proposed privatizing it.

Lighten up. The country survived Obama. YOU can survive Trump. Put on NPR, put on the Birkenstocks, and have a Double Decaf Mocha Latte and relax.

Will you survive Biden with a Coors in one fist, a Glock in the other, a MAGA cap, motorcycle boots with Rush Limbaugh shouting in the background? Oh, I forgot. The Rush will probably be dead by then.

I haven't had any problems lately, but a few years ago I mailed a gift to my daughter. The tracking said it had arrived in some sort of transfer facility in New Jersey. Then nothing. It never arrived. Wen I asked at the post office, they said that the items are scanned on arrival, not going out if they are still on their journey. So - I asked if they had any way of knowing where the package was located, and he said that they did not. It could be misplaced in the transfer facility, it could have dropped off the truck, it could have been stolen - but they were pretty sure it had not reached the final post office, or it would have been scanned in. Seemed like they were only doing half the job of tracking items. It never showed up.

When I have had a purchase tracked, I have received two messages - one when it arrived at a facility and one when it left the facility - no, I haven’t had any experience this year.

It was ‘privatized’ some years ago. Richard Nixon turned what had been a “cabinet level department” into “an indepedent federal agency”. In practical terms, I believe that means it went from being a part of the federal budget to having to explicitly ask for money.

The “hatred” is all yours, it’s on you and your ilk who dwell on personality and popularity, confusing them with real issues. The hatred was crafted and exploited for political purposes years ago and adroitly refined for the 2008 election. Unfortunately the successful marketing of the anti-trump drumbeat was able to supplant real substantive, issues and distract us from the challenges we face thus preventing progress. You with TDS are the real obstacles to progress that keep fanning old flames and extinguishing the real advancements that are being made.

i wish I never started this; it was not intended to be political. I just thought it strange that the post office had no idea where the package was located. Either their software is flawed or someone was putting in incorrect data.
