Looks like it is starting to pay off. The first the metering was on the Heron in the backround.
Second shot is of course on the Egret in full sunligt comig from rear. Previously I had lots of problems with white birds being blown out. ISO 800 Speed 1/1600. Still a tad out of focus but Heron was almost 200 yards out. Maybe I am expecting to much of the 70-300 5.6 lens. CC always appreciated.
The problem with the shot is Both are not quite in focus, lacks detail, and the second shot still has blown highlights. Also some blue chromattic abberation along the egret. Make sure you have a tripod and lower iso if possible, even at half that shutter speed you should still be good.
