Last night I was surfing EBay and saw an auction of a refurbished Sony a7iii with a 28-70 2.8 lens up for bid from a dealer. I bid $1725.00 and am currently the highest bidder with only 6.5 hours left.

Never thinking that I would be highest bidder, this GAS attack now has me with several cameras...I want to keep my Nikon D7500 since it has been my go to camera for a few years and I have a full range of lenses for it.

I also have a Canon EOS m5 that is in excellent condition with three lenses: 15-45; 18-150;and 55-200. I use this camera for travel and really enjoy it, but now that I may be the winner of a Sony a7iii full frame, the Canon seems to be the one to go....

Here is the problem Adorama, KEH and B&H will take the Canon gear in trade for a pittance (literally pennies on the dollar)....Would like to make a bit of money on the Canon sale to offset a small portion of the price of the Sony...any suggestions for places to sell this gear?

TIA

I would be surprised if there isn't a last few minutes bidding frenzy. Then what to do?

If it is a competitive price, "It ain't over till it's over"! The last minute and especially the last ten to 15 seconds of bidding is when the action is!! Good luck on it! I have noticed during the pandemic that folks are paying too much, or equal to retail (and more) on Ebay, used or new, and things are being re-listed a lot, so watch out for the "run-up" in the last moments, don't let desire to bid cloud your judgement on your final price limit.......

Try selling it privately. I’ve sold a number of things on Craig’s List, and Let go. Never had a problem, always asked for cash only, and met at a public place.
Be prepared for a last minute bidding frenzy. Will usually start within a minute or less.
Good luck.

In-lightened may be right about the last-minute bidding frenzy. I have lost several auctions in the last few seconds, a few times to my great relief. So, you could get "lucky" and lose the auction. If you end up the proud owner of the Sony, make a rational decision whether to sell one of your cameras or kits, and which it will be. You could offer it here on UHH as well as in other markets. Good luck with however you want this to go.

P.S. You could also let us know which exact auction you're bidding on, and maybe another UHH member will outbid you.

UHH classified has been suggested. FredMiranda is also good, maybe even better. If a private sale is not your thing, I recommend MPB.Com for the best offer, which is usually about 65% of what they will sell it for. Some like KEH and Adorama/B&H. My personal experience is that I got more from MPB. Good luck!

Don't count chickens before the eggs hatch. That is a LOT of time left on an auction. Plenty of folks wait until the last ten seconds to place a winning bid on eBay items... I've been shut out like that twice.

Most are talking about the bidding process, but her question was about selling.

Does Sony have a 28-70mm f/2.8? If it's the 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 then B&H has it for $2198. So for the price that you bid it's not cheap unless it's brand new and came with full warranty.

Bill, bid sniping is a technique that even eBay encourages. I think we’ve all been shutout that way. I rarely if ever buy from eBay anymore, but in the day, I would enter my bid, and at the 12 second mark, hit <enter>, <enter> with decent success. I’ve also heard that there are/were services available where you give them your Max bid and they do the sniping for you. Fee based I think....

Haha! You definitely aren’t the first to hope for that! I can’t tell you how how many times I bid and ended up wishing for the same! 🥴
