He was a Minolta fan but when Minolta stopped making new cameras that supported their A-Mount he jumped ship and when to Canon. Sony had not yet introduced their A100 camera that supported the A-mount lens and he felt he was stuck with them. When we first met and he heard that I had a Sony A-Mount camera he offered to sell me all his old Minolta lenses. I gave him a fair price for all his prime Minolta lenses. He was happy that he found someone willing to take them off his hands. He then just gave me all his remaining A-mount lens, he even tossed in the Body of his Minolta film camera!

Today I was impressed by a photo that someone posted of a wasp taken with a rare 200mm f/4 Minolta Macro lens. I had never used one of the lenses he had given me because it was not a prime and it was made by Sigma. I did not think it would be very good. Still the possibility of having a macro in the 200~300mm range intrigued me. I put it on my A99II camera body and chased a bee around the flowers. It turns out that DxO Optics pro makes a Module for that Sigma lens but never made one for the the rare Minolta 200mm maro.

That's pretty darn good lens; I was surprised! The bee was moving so it not sharp, but overall...

I ran the RAW file through DxO OP to improve it a bit.

Thank you. I just discovered that if download then magnify, a second bug can be found on the flower.

I priced this lens on eBay, they are super cheap.
