Clarification needed on file size for uploads to UHH

For two days I have been battling to send three images. I use Google Chrome. Finally after reducing the pixel size to 72ppi the images were sent.
Question 1. Is there a definitive file size, (e.g 4.5M) that shouldn't be exceeded.
Question 2. If pixel size is reduced to 72ppi, is ticking "Store Original" then pointless as the image has already been degraded.
I have searched through the 'Search' section but none of the answer's help me with the above queries.

The limit is 20MB per upload.
If the file is not larger than 600x800 pixels then "store original" does nothing.
If the file is not larger than 600x800 pixels then "store original" does nothing.
