Please no lectures on buying the subscription I’m looking for alternate solution.

Use the software that came with it.

Two free options:

1) Download and install the latest version of Canon DPP v4 from the USA.CANON.COM website (or your local location). Then, either run a default conversion to 16-bit TIFF and import into LR. Or, perform some initial edits and then perform the TIFF conversion. Just find the support section for your EOS 90D. You need a valid EOS serial number, but any valid camera number will enable the download, not just a 90D.

2) Download the free Adobe DNG converter from the Adobe site. This runs quickly in batch and is probably more time-efficient than DPP. Test that the CR3 is supported. Also, look at your LR6 software and confirm the highest DNG conversion setting that LR6 can import, if applicable. The LR6 export mentions "Camera RAW 7.1 and later" as a compatibility setting. See if selecting a specific DNG level impacts how the resulting DNG works when imported into LR6.

Keep your original CR3 files for a future date if / when you upgrade to a software that natively supports the CR3 format. If LR in the further, you could import the CR3 and stack with the DNGs in the LR catalog. You can start fresh or merge the DNG edits over the CR3 when revisiting one of these files.

LR should load the DNGs and let you process them. If not there's an option in the DNG converter to set the level of compatibility. You can try backing it down from the default.

No lecture. Buy the subscription. Problem solved. Unless you want to continue to complain about using a brand new camera with 5 year old software that is no longer supported by the publisher - then knock yourself out!

There was no disk. Apparently no longer included in the boxes.

Going forward, there won't be disks for things that can be downloaded. We've seen this issue play out a few times for other EOS 90D owners.

I use Affinity Photo with my Canon 90D. It is a one time payment program. A lot of different opinions will likely follow from other people. Other options include ON1 2020 raw, again that is a one time payment. Both have trial versions, so I would suggest trying them out first. Johneb2

ON1 is a software product that is being aggressively updated - every year around November a new version hits the street - with compelling features. So, upgrading their software on a regular basis will cost about $80 every year - not exactly a one time payment if you want to stay current.

Canon DPP is free to download from here: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/eos-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras/dslr/eos-90d-body/?cm_sp=CSO-_-PFListing-_-EOS90D

Surprised to hear that DNG files aren't being recognized by Lightroom 6.14. Maybe Adobe has made some changes to reduce compatibility... to force people to go onto the subscription plan if they want to use LR and/ore PS. They've recently done some other things, such as removing the legacy software files from their site so it's no longer possible to replace an older version if you lose it to a system crash.
